Another windy day forecast. Got up and checked the window-cam, and oh yes sunny and windy, get in. Stopped off at King Alfred's then Hove Lagoon first, but couldn't see anyone out so drove on to Shoreham.

Didn't feel all that windy when I arrived 11am. Ummed and arred between the 5.2 and 5.9 - went for the 5.9. By the time I'd rigged up and walked down to the water though, it had definitely got windier. Was proper maxed out on the 5.9. Came in to whack on max downhaul, then I was in control, and absolutely FLYING. Was good fun having some maxed-out foot to the floor full on blasting, but being overpowered that's about all I was able to do. Wind picked up even more, so decided this is futile, and came in.

Thought about changing onto the Quatro as well, but couldn't be arsed with carrying both my board and sail up the stones to the car, so just changed sail down to the 5.2. And aaaahhh....much much better. There followed another quality session, proper powered up, going scarily fast at times, some nice duck gybes, nice jumps, and got closer with the strap-to-strap gybes. Also some OK waves were breaking near the shore, a couple of which were big enough to drop down into and be ridden back-side (sort of). With the sun blazing down just didn't want to stop, but eventually tiredness got the better of me. Also tide was coming up making the water state very messy, and a nasty shore-dump was developing. So came in around 2pm.

4 and a half stars I'd say....it doesn't come much better than this....better waves would turn it into a 5 star effort, but still, I'm going to be looking back on today's session with fond memories in December when it's 10 degrees and pissing it down. Still fine in the summer suit today, although it is starting to get a bit chillier - will have to buy that new winter steamer soon.
